Galley kitchen remodel
This early ’80s home featured a typical small galley kitchen with no real dedicated dining room. The clients for this project were Empty Nesters who love to entertain, but didn’t have the proper space or equipment to do so. The kitchen and dining area were completely transformed with custom cabinetry designed to meet the clients’ needs and wishes.
The first step was to redesign the basic layout of the kitchen without adding to the footprint of the kitchen space. We removed the existing sink wall to open the kitchen up to a new dining addition. The previous eat-in kitchen area was then transformed into a customized baking center, including storage for dishes and small appliances. Two appliance garages now house the microwave and other equipment, and new roll-out shelves provide easy access to dishware. In addition, a closet that was previously underutilized was rebuilt into a more practical office center.
In the newly constructed dining area, a custom-designed buffet was built in along the back wall, delivering plenty of storage and serving space for entertaining without inhibiting on the space. A new dining table and chairs complete the look, with designer fabrics complimenting the custom-designed window treatments.
The result of this project is truly a gorgeous, organized kitchen and dining area that uses every nook and cranny for practical storage space. The clients were very pleased!
